Are the Dankal cars accessible to the general public?

The Light Rail contains two connected cars, with a total of 70 m in length 2.65 m in width. The cars are accessible to wheelchairs and baby strollers. Also, part of the space has fixed seats, and the other part allows comfortable standing and contains many grab handles, alongside sitting on folding seats. The train itself has docking points for wheelchairs. The intensity of the lighting and the size of the inscription on the signs can be adjusted for people with disabilities. The doors of the Light Rail cars are not closed automatically, but by the train driver. To verify that it is safe to close the doors, cameras are installed for the driver to use before closing them. Also, the closing of the doors will be accompanied by a flashing light and a beep to ensure full accessibility for all passengers.

Is it possible to bring a guide dog or a service animal on the train?

Yes.

A guide dog accompanying a blind person as well as a guide dog in training wearing a vest with the inscription “GUIDE DOG IN TRAINING” are allowed to enter the Light Rail when they are leashed.

Also, every service dog wearing a harness is allowed to enter stations and trains without a muzzle.

A service animal that accompanies disabled persons will be allowed to enter upon presentation of a certificate or proof that it is a service animal.

Were all Dankal stations made accessible to passengers?

Certainly! The outstanding advantage of the Light Rail is that it is fully accessible even to passengers with disabilities. The train at street-level stations is at platform level, therefore accessible to baby strollers and wheelchairs. Access to the trains at the underground stations is via elevators and escalators, and there, too, the train will stop on the same level as the passengers, for safe and easy boarding even for baby strollers and wheelchairs, without the use of stairs or an elevator.

Also, the cars and Light Rail stations were equipped with visual and audio aids for the benefit of persons with hearing and sight impairment, and all information is provided in three languages: Hebrew, English and Arabic.

What services are available for passengers with disabilities?

Accessibility for people with disabilities is considered a supreme value by Tevel Metro, who works hard to protect the rights of each and every passenger. Therefore, all train stations, cars, customer service, the website, digital means and bar code scanning are accessible to all passengers, providing them with a comfortable and safe travel and service experience.
